GROUND BAITING: ongoing
Pilliga National Park is a protected area located between Narrabri and Coonabarabran. It is part of the larger Pilliga Forest, which spans more than half a million hectares. The forest is made up of Pilliga Nature Reserve, Timmallallie National Park, and Pilliga West and East State Conservation Areas. Known as one of the iconic landscapes of inland Australia, it's the largest native forest west of the Great Dividing Range. It is home to various species, including barking owls, malleefowls, eastern pygmy possums, swamp wallabies, eastern grey kangaroos, red-necked wallabies, squirrel gliders, and the south-eastern long-eared bat.
The baiting activities undertaken at Pilliga National Park are undertaken by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy and the Castlereagh office of the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
